The Poole family, who have lovingly operated Pavilion Cinema for the past 31 years, are moving on to new adventures! We wish them the very best. We also have over 30 years experience running cinemas and operate a group of independent cinemas across the UK. We're excited to meet you.

Andrew Poole (Cinema Manager) said: "After 31 years of running the Pavilion Cinema we now feel the time is right to pass the baton on. Over the past 31 years, my family and I have enjoyed tremendous support from over 3 million amazingly loyal customers and we can't thank them enough for their custom, through the good times and the bad times.
But we leave the Pavilion cinema in very safe hands. Merlin has over 20 sites across the UK including two other Scottish sites in Ayr and Thurso.
Over the past three decades we have invested over £750,000 in the cinema with the conversion to digital cinema in 2011, the replacing of all our seats in 2016 and the upgrade of the sound system to Dolby 7.1 surround in 2020. We've survived the Covid crisis, the cost of living crisis a couple of writers strikes and the recent actors strike. And the cinema is still here.
The greatest asset this business has is its staff and without their unwavering support, hard work and dedication over the past 31 years, we wouldn't have a business to hand over to Merlin. So, I would like to thank all of them, past and present, for their time over the past 31 years. I'm delighted to say that all our employees will be transferred to Merlin with their employment continuing with them."

This much-loved venue has a rich history and a loyal audience, and we are excited to build on that legacy. The cinema will remain open during the period of Merlin taking over and we look forward to a smooth transition."
